a Tokyo-based author-illustrator.
I create warm, playful worlds filled with charming, whimsical characters and a limited color palette.
I am the author and illustrator of four picture books,
including Where Is My Pair? and the Nana and Mimi series (Kaiseisha).
After a long break from picture books,
I recently returned to the field with Where Is My Pair?
My work focuses on simple, engaging, and interactive visual storytelling
that invites children (and grown-ups) into playful reading experiences.
Reading countless picture books with my daughter has given me fresh insight into
what engages young readers, and has gently shaped my return to picture book creation.

With over 20 years of professional experience across books, magazines, textiles, and other media,
I bring a broad and versatile creative perspective to my work in children’s publishing.
I studied Illustration at Parsons School of Design in New York.
At BCBF, Where Is My Pair? will be available to read at the Kaiseisha stand (Hall 29, B18).
I will also be attending the fair and am open to connecting with
agents and publishers for potential collaboration and representation opportunities.
📩 Please feel free to get in touch via hello@naho.com or Instagram DM.
I look forward to hearing from you.

A playful search-and-find picture book,
Where Is My Pair? (くつしたどーこだ?),
has just been published by Kaiseisha in Japan!
It was inspired by the everyday mystery of missing socks
— and her child’s imaginative answer:
“Maybe they went for a walkie?”
You can find the book at the Kaiseisha stand (Hall 29, B18) at BCBF
— come by and join the search for colorful sock friends!
I am sure the “Missing Sock Club” has members all over her world😉
The publisher, Kaiseisha is happy to discuss translation opportunities!
bold line drawings and solid areas of color.
I primarily work digitally using Photoshop and Procreate,
while also valuing the unique texture and character of hand-painted elements.
In my children’s books, I enjoy incorporating a collage style
that blends traditional techniques with digital processes.

Thank you for taking the time to review my work.
It would be great to hear your feedback.
If you’ll be at BCBF, I would absolutely love to meet you in person.
I also have some new proposals to share.
Once again, I’m open to collaboration and actively seeking representation by a KidLit agent.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
